What Happens When You Send to the Wrong Network
Sending tokens to the wrong network is one of the most common crypto mistakes. The outcome depends on whether the networks share the same address format.
EVM-to-EVM mistakes (say, sending USDC on Ethereum to an Arbitrum address) are usually recoverable because the address exists on both chains. The tokens sit at your address on the source chain, not the destination.
EVM-to-non-EVM mistakes (say, sending ETH to a Solana address) are more serious. If the address formats are incompatible, the tokens may be permanently lost.
EVM-to-EVM: Usually Recoverable
If you sent ERC-20 tokens from Ethereum to an address on Arbitrum, Base or Polygon — and you control that address — the tokens are safe. They are sitting at your address on the Ethereum network.
To recover them: import the same private key or seed phrase into a wallet that supports both networks. The tokens will appear under the original network (Ethereum), not the destination you intended (Arbitrum).
You can then use AEXI to bridge the tokens to the correct network. Connect the wallet, select the token on Ethereum as the source and the correct destination network, and bridge.
Non-EVM Mistakes: Higher Risk
Sending EVM tokens to a Solana, TRON or TON address is riskier. These chains use different address formats, so the tokens may be unrecoverable depending on the bridge and wallet.
Some centralized exchanges and bridge providers offer recovery services for cross-ecosystem mistakes, but fees are high and success is not guaranteed.
For Solana specifically: if you control the private key for the EVM wallet, the tokens remain on Ethereum. You can recover them using the private key — they did not actually move to Solana.
Prevention Tips
Always double-check both the token and the network before confirming a transaction. Most wallets display the network prominently — read it carefully.
Send a small test transaction first. Bridge or send $1 worth of the token to verify the route works before committing the full amount.

When to Contact Support
Contact support if: you sent a large amount to the wrong network, the tokens do not appear in any wallet you control, or you are unsure whether recovery is possible.
